At Primavera, we provide our students with the tools needed not only to graduate, but to excel while in high school. You could be looking to catch up on classes or even graduate early and that’s why we have special resources that allow you to leave Primavera with even more than just a fully-accredited diploma. One resource we have for you is dual-credit courses that give you both high school and college credits.
If you’re a full-time Primavera student thinking of going to college, here are a few reasons why you should consider taking dual-credit courses while in high school.
- 1. Get a Head Start on College
When you sign up for a dual-credit course, you are “double dipping,” as Primavera’s Head Guidance Counselor Elaine says. Dual-credit courses give you the high school credits you need to graduate, and additionally give you college credits to give you a head start on your college education while working on your high school diploma. For example, if you enroll in Primavera’s English 12A, you receive the credits necessary to graduate, and you also receive English 101 credits that are accepted at all Arizona universities, and most universities throughout the country. Through Primavera, you can knock out nearly a full semester of college while in high school, just by taking dual-credit courses! - 2. Get More Personalized Attention Here
When you do start attending college, it’s very possible that your class sizes will be large and your teacher may be less accessible, especially if you’re planning on going straight to a university. Here at Primavera, our teachers are available via phone, email, chat and even scheduled in-person appointments. If you’re going to take the class anyway, why not take it here at Primavera while you can still get any extra support you may need? - 3. Save Some Money!
It’s no secret that college is expensive, so why not save some money now? The dual-credit courses cost the price of a community college course, which is much cheaper than a university or trade school. What’s more, if you’re a full-time student now thinking about signing up for a dual-credit course in the fall, you can qualify for financial aid and get college credit for free!
