AzMERIT (Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) is a standardized test that measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.

From March 29–April 1, 2016 many Primavera Online High School and Middle School students will need to take the AzMERIT and AIMS Science tests in person. We have several locations available so you can test at a location that’s convenient for you. Read below to see if you need to take the test and learn how to register.

Some Details About AzMERIT Testing

  • AzMERIT is available as a computer-based test or as a paper-based test. For the Spring 2016 administration of AzMERIT, schools with sufficient bandwidth and the appropriate devices to support computer-based testing were able to select computer-based testing.
  • In an effort to make the test available at different locations near our students, Primavera Online has selected the paper-based option.

    • Who Needs to Take the AzMERIT Test This Spring 2016?

    All Arizona public school students in Grades 3–8 will participate in AzMERIT testing. High School students grades 9–12, on the other hand, won’t take AzMERIT tests until they’ve finished certain classes at Primavera.

    High School Students: If you are enrolled or have taken any of the following courses with Primavera, you need to register for AzMERIT by March 28:

    • English 9B
    • English 10B
    • English 11B
    • Algebra 1B
    • Geometry B
    • Algebra 2B
    • Algebra 2B Concepts

    What About AIMS Science?

    All 8th and 10th grade students need to take the AIMS Science test. To register for the exam, follow the instructions below.

    How to Register for AzMERIT & AIMS Science

    Primavera Online will be administering AzMERIT March 29–April 1 at various testing locations. For more information and frequently asked questions about AzMERIT, visit our AzMERIT page. To see testing locations, head to your Parent Student Portal (PSP) login.

    You can register for AzMERIT in five simple steps!

    • Log into your Parent Student Portal (PSP) account.
    • Click on Progress located on the left-side navigation panel.
    • Then click on Testing.
    • If you are required to take the AzMERIT tests, a “registration” button will be available. Click on registration.
      *Note: If there is no registration button available, you are not required to take the test this Spring.
    • Choose your desired location and time for each day.
    • Once you have reviewed the locations and times, click submit.

      • Starting Monday, March 7, you can also find a detailed video with instructions on how to register on the PSP homepage for the next couple of weeks. Remember, all students needing to take the AzMERIT exams must register by March 28.

      AzMERIT Testing Schedule Dates

      High School

      • March 29– Writing
      • March 30– Reading
      • March 31- Math
      • April 1- AIMS Science for 10th graders and Make up day (Exclusively for students who missed a testing day.)

      Middle School

      • March 29–Writing
      • March 30– Reading Part 1 & Math Part 1
      • March 31– Reading Part 2 & Math Part 2
      • April 1– AIMS Science for 8th graders & Make Up Day (Exclusively for students who missed a testing day.)

      What is the ELA Score?

      When the writing and reading tests are scored, the Arizona Department of Education will send Primavera one score: the ELA score. The ELA score will include both the writing and reading AzMERIT test results, so it is very important to attempt both AzMERIT tests to receive a complete ELA score. If only one test is attempted, there will be no score and the test will be marked as incomplete.
