Walking through the woods, hearing the leaves crackle under our feet, and the birds chirping overhead. The princess fair, sharing stories and thoughts while walking alongside me. Everything, perfect then all of a sudden the baby blue sky became black with anger. Thunder rumbled, and lightning cracked. I grabbed for my sword and guarded Zelda from whatever was about to take place in those Lost Woods. The winds began to scream and my vision started spinning. I turned back to reassure my shaken princess who was then drifting away, calling my name, and affrighted. I Then became stone and could not move to run after her, oh how I wish I could have.

I had awoke in a cold sweat and gasping for air. I got dressed, properly equipped myself, and hopped on my trusty steed, Epona and raced to the Castle of Hyrule. In the garden a wave of relief flooded over my being as I saw her captivating smile unharmed. I gave a laugh and headed towards her. The princess stroked Epona’s nose and tickled her soft, fuzzy, chin.

“Hello Link!” she said happily, “You seem troubled, what has you this way Hero?”

I insisted that nothing was bothering me, even though that nightmare still was. Really I was just glad to be mobile and able to save her if need be.

We then walked around town and became enveloped in the life that thrived within it. The Celtic music playing throughout the narrow streets made us dance carelessly. The children took awe in her beauty, so did I. The sun began to play peek-a-boo with clouds and then fell to slumber beneath the mountains. The princess hummed the songs that once filled the streets as we walked back to the castle. Strolling up to the great castle doors I heard her lovely voice say goodnight followed by soft lips upon my cheek. I remember the heat and melting inside. Finally I had turned away and walked with my horse back home.

The next morn there was a banging at my door along with the yelling of my name. I then sprouted up from my bed and ran to open the door. It was the King, along with tens of guards. He informed me that Zelda was missing which made my heart sank and I became outraged. The King pointed at a dark cloud in the sky and he told me that he believed the evil wizard Ganondorf was behind Zelda’s disappearance.

“You must go Link, you must go and defeat the evil Ganon and bring Zelda back!” The King said verbatim.

I scrambled to get ready with my heart still in the pit of my stomach. soon I was out the door and riding toward the darkness that was growing thick. I rode from dawn to dusk and sliced enemies to dust. Nearing the foggy dew that was in between me and my fate I drew my sword, prepared for the worst. Epona and I, proceeded with caution. Wandering for what seemed like days, abruptly stopped at the sight of a cave opening. I tied Epona to a post and promised I’d be back shortly. With my sword still drawn, I entered the cave. Slicing foes continued and my left cheek still burned. I followed the trail of enemies, hoping to lead me straight to Ganon.

I ended up at a large evil looking door. It opened and I knew this was it, so I walked in. It was dark at first, then things became clearer and I saw Zelda laying lifeless in the middle of the room, I gasped and sprinted towards her. Kneeling, I clenched her hand in mine and wept. Heavy footsteps sounded behind me and I picked up my blade and swung in the direction of them. I remember it as if it was yesterday.

“I see you came, just as I planned” Ganondorf smirked, as I was ripping him to shreds with my eyes. He began to walk around the room and my murderous eyes followed his every move.

“So sad you were too late, supposed hero” he said, then I boiled and lunged for him with my Master Sword. His back caught the fade of my razor sharp blade and he bled.

“HAHAHAHA foolish child, you dare challenge me?” Ganon roared, and my eyes confirmed I was not leaving until one of us lay dead. The room darkened and a group of Keese flew towards me, I whipped out my shield and they crashed into it. I caught a glimpse of Ganon running for me and I jumped out of the way and rolled back were my sword found his back once more. Ganon fell to the floor, and I walked over to him, jumped and pierced him where a heart should be. I watched his skin crack and his body burst to a black powder. I then remembered my fair princess, Zelda. I ran to her and slid, kneeling next to her I begged for life to fill her body once more. It seemed a lifetime passed of silence, then I heard her voice and life was put back into my soul as well.

“Link… Link I knew you’d come for me.. My hero” Princess Zelda had said weakly, and I held her tight and carried her out of the darkness where we were to find no fog, no shadow, no enemies, only nature, and Epona bucking with joy.

Then I saved and turned off the console.
