AzMERIT (Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) is a standardized test that measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in Grades 3-8 and High School.

Each AzMERIT test is aligned to Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS).

Here at Primavera, we want to make sure we provide all the information you may need to be prepared for this upcoming test so we’ve compiled the most important aspects of it in this post.

Some Details About The Test

  • AzMERIT is available as a computer-based test or as a paper-based test. For the Spring 2015 administration of AzMERIT, schools with sufficient bandwidth and the appropriate devices to support computer-based testing were able to select computer-based testing.
  • Primavera Online has selected the paper-based option to administer the AzMERIT test, because we have various testing locations statewide that do not have adequate bandwidth for computer-based testing.

Who Will Take the AzMERIT Test?

Arizona public school students in Grades 3 and above will participate in AzMERIT testing. Students enrolled in Grades 3-8 will take English Language Arts (ELA) and Math at the grade level in which they are enrolled. Students who are enrolled in high school level English Language Arts courses (Freshman English, Sophomore English, Junior English, or their equivalents) or high school level math courses (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or other equivalents) will take the respective AzMERIT End-of-Course (EOC) test.

Which End-of-Course Test Will I Take?

If you were enrolled or are currently enrolled in any of the qualifying high school End-of-Course (EOC) classes, you will be taking the corresponding AzMERIT EOC test. AzMERIT EOC tests revolve around the 2nd semester of the high school EOC courses, not the 1st semester. For a breakdown of high school EOC tests and their corresponding AzMERIT EOC equivalent head to our AzMERIT page.

*The AzMERIT EOC English Language Arts tests are divided into two parts: a writing test and a reading test.

Is There an EOC Test for Grades 3-8?

No, the EOC tests are for high school courses only. Students in grades 3-8, will be taking the AzMERIT ELA and Math at the grade level they are enrolled. Visit our page for details.
