Getting ready for College can be a scary thought no matter how far away it seems. That’s why the sooner you start planning for that next big step, the better.
The ACE Puente program could be right for you if you want to get ahead on college courses while working toward your high school diploma here at Primavera. The nationwide Achieving a College Education (ACE) Puente Program allows students to take college courses at a community college while in high school free of cost!
If accepted into the ACE Puente program, you have the benefit of attending smaller classes to take advantage of more personalized attention. You also get access to a mentor who will help you throughout your time in the program and you can earn up to 24 college credits transferrable to all Arizona colleges and universities as well as most others throughout the country.
In order to qualify for the ACE Puente program, you must be a sophomore in high school and meet one of the following requirements:
- First generation in your family to attend college
- Living in a single parent home, foster care or temporary housing
- Be a part of an underrepresented group
- Going through economic hardship
- Have a sibling or relative who was an ACE participant (Legacy)
- Be a teen parent
- Work 10-30 hours a week
- Or voluntarily disclose physical/mental disabilities
The deadline to apply for the ACE Puente program is December 5th.
Primavera has partnered with Rio Salado Community college, so you can still take all of your courses online. If you prefer to take in-person classes, you can enroll at any other Maricopa Community College. For more information on how to apply for the ACE program, email Kimberly at [email protected].
