At Primavera, we have a lot of artistically gifted students whose work you’ve seen on Art Club’s Corner. If you’re a student wanting to learn to draw but are intimidated, you shouldn’t let that fear keep you from releasing your inner artist!

National Drawing Day is commemorated every year on June 6 to celebrate and encourage everyone to pick up a writing utensil and get creative. What better place to start than with our very own school mascot, Peyton?

Follow these steps to draw your very own Peyton the panther. Use the step-by-step visual instructions below, using the dotted lines as guides.

First, draw and oval shape that is wider at the top to create the head. In the center, draw a circle. Then draw a horizontal oval over-lapping the center circle.

Next, add ears to the top corners of the head. Erase along the dotted lines, and add a ridge to the top of the nose and vertical lines for the chin.

Now add a circle in the center of the face to start creating the nose!

Erase the top of the nose, and draw a smooth arch. Add a straight line down beneath the nose to connect it to the mouth. Add two half-circles within the mouth to create the lips and tongue. Outline the inner ears, then add two circles to start the eyes.

Erase the inner circles where it overlaps on the nose. Draw diagonal, thin ovals in the circles to create the eye lids. Erase the connecting tips of the mouth’s inner arch, and then draw a thin downward facing triangle in the center of the mouth.

Add bushy eyebrows to the tops of the eyes, and draw small circles in the eye ovals to create the pupils. Add two top teeth by drawing downward triangles with rounded off tips, and then add the set of bottom teeth.

Add some bushy hair in both inner ears, and filled-in small circles to give a life-like shine to the eyes and nose.

Finish off your drawing by filling in the bottom lip, outer eyes and adding a few dots for whiskers!

Or you can always trace the final image!
