Student Spotlight: Christian Reyes

Name: Christian Reyes

Grade: Freshman (9th)

Hometown: Tucson

Who is your favorite actor/actress: Excluding the recent Dark Knight Rises film, my favorite actor is Tom Hardy. I first saw him in the movie “Inception”, and his character was a favorite. However, is performance in the movie, “Warrior” sealed the deal. I think he gives one hundred percent in each film he does, and it shows. He’s been nominated quite a bit, and has one a few awards as well.

What is your favorite food: Before my recent diet changed, my sister used to make a brilliant home-made spaghetti sauce, complete with Italian sausage. There would always be plenty of spaghetti for days; I didn’t mind eating it for dinner four nights in a row. However, I’m a proud Pescetarian now, and I have cut out all meat (excluding seafood, of course) from my meals.

How long have you been a Primavera student: I have been a student at Primavera for not even a year. This is my first year, and I’m a Freshman.

Why did you choose to attend Primavera: In all honesty, it was not my plan to initially start classes here at Primavera. I enjoy everything about brick-and-mortar schools. I enjoyed the learning environment and the social interactions. However, my mother decided that I would be “safer” in an online school, away from the dangers and drama real schooling can have. So far, I like it here. The hours are flexible, the courses are easy to understand, and the students and staff are wonderfully friendly.

What is your favorite part about taking classes online: I think the simplicity draws me to the online classes. While yes, I do miss a lot of the social interactions from teacher and student alike, classrooms nowadays are not beneficial for education. Too many distractions that quickly took my focus away.

What are your plans after Primavera: I have always wanted to be a writer of some kind. I’ve been writing creatively ever since I was eight, and keep most of my “pieces”. I am a Nanowrimo participant as well, and joining that really boosted my confidence in my own ability. However, I decided I would like to be a television writer. In Tucson, there is an excellent media-related JTED program I’d like to attend started next year (2015). Then, perhaps a college or university for writing or producing. Afterwards, who knows?
