Schools have multiple ways to measure student learning with standardized testing being just one of them. While taking standardized tests is not required for graduation, they are the most accurate tools available to measure whether your child is mastering key skills. Thank you for your continued support of Primavera.

AzMERIT (Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Each AzMERIT test is aligned to Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS).

Who Takes the AzMERIT Test at Primavera?

The Arizona Attorney General has stated any student eligible to take the AzMERIT must take the test. Therefor all Primavera high school and middle school students are required to take the AzMERIT tests. The times during which students are required to test will vary according to courses enrolled in each term.

Primavera Online High School AzMERIT End-of-Course (EOC) Testing

If you were or are currently enrolled in any of the qualifying high school End-of-Course (EOC) classes, you will be taking the corresponding AzMERIT EOC test. AzMERIT tests revolve around the second semester of the high school EOC courses, not the first semester.

*The AzMERIT English Language Arts tests are divided into two parts: a writing and reading test.

When the writing and reading tests are scored, the Arizona Department of Education will send Primavera one score: the English Language Arts (ELA) score. The ELA score will include both the writing and reading AzMERIT test results, so it is very important to attempt both AzMERIT tests in order to receive a complete ELA score. If only one test is attempted, there will be no score and the test will be marked as incomplete.

You will be taking the 8th grade level AzMERIT ELA AND the high school AzMERIT EOC Algebra I test. Students will not be taking 8th grade level AzMERIT Math.*

*Students in middle school who are taking a high school level course that has an EOC test will not be required to take their grade level AzMERIT test for that content area.

Because AzMERIT and AIMS tests must be taken in person, Primavera administers them at various locations and times throughout the state. High school students test in the fall, spring and/or summer, while middle school students test in the spring only.
