Schools you teach at: Primavera High School. Prior to joining Primavera, I taught at Maryvale High School for ten years.
Hometown: I am originally from Youngstown, Ohio. Later lived in Boston, New York City, and San Francisco.
Where did you attend college? M.Ed. from Arizona State University, BS from University of San Francisco, AAS degree from New York University.
What subject(s) do you teach and why? I have taught Career Exploration and Computer Basics classes. I am certified in business and career and technical education. I love teaching, and it is a second career for me. Prior to going into teaching, I worked for IBM Corporation for 15 years in offices in Boston, New York City, and San Francisco.
What do you enjoy doing outside of school? I enjoy being involved in music in my church and elsewhere. I have sung in several small groups, and I sang in the Phoenix Symphony Chorus for five seasons. I also enjoy traveling when I can. My husband, daughter, and I have traveled to London and also to Rome, Florence, and Venice. In London, it was fun to visit Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and Hyde Park. We also enjoyed touring Stonehenge and stayed a few days in Lewes, where my husband’s ancestors had lived. In Rome, we enjoyed seeing the Vatican Museum and the Forum. In Florence, we appreciated seeing Michelangelo’s David. And in Venice, the shopping was awesome!
Do you have any advice to help students succeed in an online high school? Try to stay on track by completing the assigned lessons each week. Keep in touch with your teachers, and don’t hesitate to call or message when you have a question or need assistance. Believe in yourself! As Confucius once said, “Choose a career you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!”
What is your favorite book/movie? I enjoy reading non-fiction books. I have read the autobiographies of most of the first ladies.
What are three things you absolutely cannot live without?
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Chocolate!
What is your favorite dessert/food? Dessert: I love chocolate in just about any form! Food: I also love spaghetti! And my husband says I make the world’s best chili! 🙂
What are two things on your bucket list?
1. Travel to Paris, Germany, and the Holy Land.
2. Have grandchildren!
