AzMERIT (Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) is a standardized test that measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.
Starting October 27, many Primavera students will need to take the AzMERIT tests in person. We have several locations available so you can test at a location that’s convenient for you. To see if you need to register and how to do so, read the details below.
Who Needs to Take the AzMERIT Test This October?
Before graduating, all high school students will take the AzMERIT exams at some point. Because AzMERIT is an end-of-course-based exam, you won’t take the exam until you’ve finished certain classes at Primavera.
If you are enrolled or have taken any of the following courses with Primavera, you need to register for AzMERIT by October 26:
- English 9B
- English 10B
- English 11B
- Algebra 1B
- Geometry B
- Algebra 2B
- Algebra 2B Concepts
How to Register for AzMERIT
Primavera Online will be administering AzMERIT October 27–30 at various testing locations. For detailed locations, dates and frequently asked questions, visit our AzMERIT page.
You can register for AzMERIT in five simple steps!
- Log into your Parent Student Portal (PSP) account.
- Click on Progress located on the left-side navigation panel.
- Then click on Testing.
- If you are required to take the AzMERIT tests, it will pop up with options of locations and times.
- Choose your desired location and time for each day.
- Once you have reviewed the locations and times, click submit.
- October 27- Reading
- October 28- Writing
- October 29- Math
- October 30- Make up day (Exclusively for students who missed a testing day.)
You can also find a detailed video with instructions on how to register on the PSP homepage for the next couple of weeks. Remember, all students needing to take the AzMERIT exams must register by October 26.

I am doing the testing at the Ramada in Kingman, Arizona
Is it required for me to take it, I have completed those classes, but I don’t know If I am required to take it or not?
Hi, Mitchal. If you have completed the courses through Primavera, you likely will need to take the AzMerit tests. An easy way to check is to follow the instructions in this blog post under “How to Register for AzMerit.” If test dates or locations show up for you on the PSP, that means you need to register. If the dates for the test absolutely doesn’t work for you, is there an alternative day? Is the test mandatory? What happens if you don’t take it? Do you fail?

Hi so I’m in 8th grade taking the reading and math pt1 and pt2 on April 11 and April 12th. It turns out that I will be absent for both tests and the makeup which is on April 13th. I’m really stressed out about what I should do because I will be out of the country on those days. What should I do?

If we didn’t registar could we take it at another time?
Hi, Lisa. You have until November 15 to register for the fall 2017 AzMERIT exams. Becuase this is a state-mandated test, you need to take it at the time assigned. Please register as soon as possible. Hello, I’ve been enrolled in primavera for about 2 weeks now. I’m wondering when I will take the AZ Merit test.
Hi, Cynthia. Great question! We hope you’re enjoying Primavera so far. 🙂 AzMERIT happens about 1-2 times every school year. Students who have completed specific courses will be notified to enroll in the AzMERIT test. This takes place at various locations throughout the state, so you can find a location convenient for you.
I was wondering can I just get an uber to the testing? Or do I have to have ID, or does my mom need to bring me? She has to work, and she was wanting to just order an uber for me to do my testing.
