Sam Lehtinen, a full-time junior at Primavera Online High School, and his three friends were featured today in the Ahwatukee Foothills News for their band, Lane Change.

The article discusses how Lane Change formed in late 2012, and highlights the band members’ hard work and dedication to their music.

After speaking with Sam about the article, he said he was very excited about the band’s progress and mentioned that he is attending Primavera Online High School so he can have more control over his time, and have the flexibility to focus on Lane Change when he needs to, whether that’s through practice, business or performances.

“Primavera has definitely helped me because I’m able to dedicate the time I need to school or to the band when I need to,” said Sam.

Sam said he typically wakes up early each day to get his school work done then spends the rest of his day practicing, meeting with the band’s manager, setting up gigs, or getting prepared for shows.

“I think it would be much more difficult if I went to a traditional school because it would take up at least 8 hours of my day, and that’s not including if I was involved with extra-curricular activities after school. Instead I can wake up early, focus completely on my classwork, then be prepared for practice,” said Sam. “Primavera is great because it allows me to get my classes done early in a timely manner, and not sit in a classroom all day – it allows you to focus on what you want to get done in your life.”
