Midnight in Paris: Ideas for Styling and Accessorizing

Paris is an ancient city, over 2,000 years old. Known as the City of Lights, Paris is a place to find adventure, enlightenment and love. Although it is not required, you are more than welcome to dress up in the Paris theme. Here are some fun ideas to accessorize for Primavera’s Midnight in Paris.

If you’re going to go all out Paris theme, there are a few things you’ll need.

Styling for Ladies

When you’re planning for a Midnight in Paris, think vintage and formal. A lot of people will equate Paris to the Roaring ’20s look.

A “vintage” style makeup is a great route to follow too! Think wing eye and bright lipstick, like what you see below.

Think bright lipstick, simple dress, vintage hair. Like the photo above, an old fashioned look with bright red lipstick will help you fit in perfectly with the theme.

If you’d like to go all out, try finger waves for your here. Here’s a simple tutorial.

And, of course, if all else fails, try the beret hat!

Find comfy shoes that work with the style

You could go with the standard heels. But you’ll be dancing all night, and it might become tiring. You could customize some Vans or Toms with paint and ribbon, or wear them as is. If there’s anything we know about Paris, it’s that true fashion requires creativity and the courage to be unconventional.

A dress is not your only option…

If you’re not comfortable in a dress, then don’t wear a dress! It’s not required in our dress code. There are so many different options, like a killer suit or a formal romper and blazer. Sport those with heels (or flats!) and you’re all set.

Primavera’s prom is formal and there is a dress code to follow, which you can find in this Prom blog post. So long as you follow the dress code, what you decide to wear is completely up to you!

Styling for Men

Paris is known for are generally a very dapper look. If you want to embrace the masquerade look, you might want to go for the good ol’ fashioned tux.

You could also go for the “old fashioned gentlemen” look with some suspenders and a bowtie, as shown below.

If you’re looking for makeup ideas, the tips posted above will work great for you too! Vintage-style makeup is a perfect Paris look.

Tickets cost $30. All attendees–students and guests–must purchase a ticket. Be sure to purchase your prom tickets by May 12.
