For those of you graduating this December, it’s not too late to apply for scholarships. In fact, we’ve compiled a list of a few that are available to you at colleges throughout the state.
Community Colleges
- Presidential Scholarship- Deadline: January 5
The Presidential Scholarship will grant you free tuition for up to 12 credits a semester at any of the Maricopa County Community colleges. To qualify, you need to be in the top 20 percent of your graduating class at Primavera. If you do not meet this requirement, there are other ways to qualify. Arizona Universities
- Leadership Scholarship- Deadline: January 9
If you’re involved in Student Government or community service, this scholarship is for you! Arizona State University (ASU) is offering $9,000 a year to those who hold a GPA of at least 3.25 and show a commitment to service. A nomination document from your counselor is required (download the PDF here). For more information on how to apply, head to ASU’s website. - Primavera Student Scholarship
Did you know if you have a 3.0 and graduate from Primavera, Grand Canyon University automatically grants you a $1,000 scholarship? No need to apply, simply send in your transcripts and the University does the rest! - Arizona University Academic Scholarships
You can get a scholarship at all three major universities in Arizona (ASU, U of A, NAU) if you have at least a 3.0. The higher your GPA, the more money you will receive. If you fall below a 3.0, you can still qualify! These universities will also grant you a scholarship if you score high on either the ACT or SAT tests. Head to either the ACT or SAT websites to register and get tips on how to do well.
Remember, you can search for scholarships outside of colleges and universities. Fastweb and Scholarships.com are great resources to find other scholarships available to you. So start researching and keep an eye out for more scholarship opportunities as we post them!
