Hometown: I was originally born in Lexington, Kentucky but my family loved to move around. I’ve lived in 6 different states before finally settling down in Arizona about eight years ago.
How long have you been a Primavera student: I began my education with Primavera on January 4th, 2010. I started out as a freshman and will have completed my entire high school education through Primavera on December 7th of this year and I am beyond ecstatic to reach this milestone.
Why did you choose to attend Primavera: I chose Primavera because I wanted to receive a quality education. I had never experienced a traditional school setting because I was home schooled when I was younger. However, I had gotten so far behind in my education that I was embarrassed to attend a regular school for fear of what people would think of me. Thus, before I found Primavera I had accepted the fact that I wouldn’t receive a high school education and that I couldn’t have career aspirations because of my lack of education, but Primavera enabled me to make something of myself and gain confidence in my own abilities.
What is your favorite part about taking classes online: My favorite part about taking classes online is a combination of both the flexibility of my school schedule and the individualization of my classes. For someone like me, whose prior education was highly unsatisfactory, it is an amazing benefit to have teachers available to me to assist and ensure my understanding of concepts. Furthermore, the flexibility is incredible because it permits me to be able to maintain a job, still volunteer in my coffee shop each week, and be a full time student.
Plans after Primavera: What I really want to do once I graduate is become an Elementary school Teacher. I think it would be amazing to be able to influence young people’s lives and instill early-on educational values within my society’s youth.
Any additional information: I would just like to say that it has been an awesome opportunity to attend Primavera Online High School and I have no idea where I would be without it. Primavera has helped me overcome so much uncertainty in my life and set me on a path for future success. It’s a privilege to work with some of Primavera’s amazing teachers, some I’d like to especially acknowledge are: Eric Steel, Sarah Wralings, and Mr. Joshi. They encouraged me so much and I appreciate all that they do.
