Teacher Spotlight: Jeff Connell
Where did you attend college? I went to Arizona State University. I have bachelor’s degrees in history and secondary education. I am currently working on my master’s degree in political science at American Military University.
What subject(s) do you teach and why? I teach U.S. History and government. I have a passion for how the United States came to be and how we continue to grow today. I LOVE government/politics. The processes of how our government functions and the role of we the people within our government.
What do you enjoy doing outside of school? I am a super nerd you could say. I love comic books and video games, but my favorite activity is just playing with my kids and hanging out with my wife.
Do you have any advice to help students succeed in an online high school? SET A SCHEDULE! Make sure you are making the time for your education every single day. If you are struggling pick up the phone and call your teachers…we are here to help you be successful.
What is your favorite book/movie? My favorite movie of all time is probably Top Gun, but anything Disney will do as well. My favorite book is The Bear and the Dragon by Tom Clancy.
What are 3 things you absolutely cannot live without? My 3 kids! They are my whole world and everything I do is for them.
What is your favorite dessert/food? My favorite food is anything I make on the grill or in my smoker at home. My favorite dessert is my wife’s homemade cookies.
What are two things on your bucket list? 1) To run for political office at the city, state, or even federal level. 2) To be a superhero!
