For the past 20 years, Primavera Online has worked to serve students throughout Arizona with a quality online educational experience. Concurrent enrollment (enrolling in additional courses through another school), allows students the ability to catch up or get ahead on credits while remaining at their current schools. However, confusion among parents and students arises as many school registrars, administrators and counselors provide misinformation, stating that they do not allow concurrent enrollment or that they do not accept credits/transferring credits from Primavera.
These types of statements are untrue, and contrary to the law. Arizona Revised Statute (A.R.S) § 15-808 and A.R.S § 15-701 are laws specifically created to allow concurrent participation and ensure credits are accepted in schools throughout Arizona. Here is an overview for anyone interested in catching up or getting ahead in their education by taking online courses.
About Transferring Credits: Answers to Common Questions
The following frequently asked questions should help parents better understand what Arizona law says about the rights they have with respect to these issues:
How Concurrent Enrollment Works With Primavera
Primavera’s course structure is separated into six-week blocks. Full-time students enroll in two courses every six weeks, and part-time or concurrent students enroll in one course every six weeks (Learn more here). Because Primavera courses are 100% online, you can complete weekly assignments and coursework on your time. Primavera is accredited and rigorous, which means our classes won’t be easier, but they will be more flexible to your schedule.
Other Things to Know About Primavera:
- We are a public charter school and tuition free
- We receive accreditation from Cognia (formerly AdvancED) and are NCAA-approved
- Our online curriculum is rigorous, engaging and award-winning
- We have highly qualified teachers who remain in constant contact with students
Tips for Students Enrolling With Primavera Concurrently
We want to provide concurrent students the ability to not just catch up or get ahead on credits, but to enjoy a quality online educational experience as they do so. That’s why we’re working to make the transition as smooth as possible. Here are some tips you can follow in order to alleviate headaches.
Tip #1: Talk With Your Counselor Before Enrolling With Primavera
While the law prevents schools from completely rejecting your credits, it’s best to check with guidance your counselor first and see what their policies are. Many schools are easy to work with, and yours could be one of them.
Tip #2: Talk With Our Enrollment Advisors
If you need to enroll in a specific course, make sure you let our enrollment advisor know when you talk to them, that way they can get you enrolled and started on the right track.
Tip #3: Once Enrolled With Primavera, Reach Out To Your School Counselor Again
Once you get enrolled in a course, reach out to your guidance counselor once more and let them know exactly which course you are taking. If possible, try to get in writing from them that they are aware of the courses you’ve enrolled in and that they will accept these credits once you earn them.
Tip #4: Notify Your School ASAP Once You’ve Earned a Credit With Primavera
Once you (or your child) successfully complete and pass the course at Primavera, don’t hesitate. Immediately notify your school counselor and submit transcripts as soon as you can. This will ensure you have ample time should any problems arise.
What to Do if Your School Isn’t Letting You Transfer Credits
Above all, call us immediately at 480.456.6678. Your Primavera guidance counselor and enrollment advisors are ready to help, and know exactly what to do in these situations. You can follow the steps below on your own, but we want to help you through the process:
1. Refer to the Law
Arizona law requires that all Arizona public schools (including charter schools) must recognize all of the credits transferred from other charter schools, including Primavera. A.R.S § 15-701(H). We have found that when challenged, most schools will back off of these types of statements and allow you to remain enrolled at their school, while participating in online instruction at Primavera.
2. If your schools says they will grant elective credit only, act immediately
If your school claims they will only accept the credits your earned at Primavera as elective credit, you have a right to see a full list of credits your school considers elective and core. A.R.S. § 15-701.01(I). Ask for it right away. Once you have it, you have ten days to request to take an examination in each particular course in which core credit was denied. If you pass the test, your school must accept the Primavera credit as core credit. A.R.S. § 15-701.01(I).

Will all my credits transfer ? & I passed the civics test junior year..
Hi, Juan. Great question! Since you attended an accredited public high school in Arizona, you should have no problem getting your credits transferred to Primavera. Head to ChoosePrimavera.com/Enroll or give us a call at 480.405.2703 to get started. 🙂
I dropped out senior year in high school and began with primavera but noticed i couldn’t keep up with the online class and rather take classes in school anyway i can transfer my primavera credits to another high school
Hi, Brandon. Yes, your credits will transfer. If you come across any issues, please contact us immediately at 480.456.6678.
Im a junior in highschool and failed my freshman and sophmore year so i currently have 12 credits to my name. can i go to my school and earn credits on here? and how fast?
I’m looking into enrolling here at Primeravera but would like to graduate at my highschool, is that any way possible??
Hi, Kimberly. That’s absolutely possible! Get started in part-time enrollment here or give us a call at 480.405.2703. 🙂
I am a junior who had enough credits to graduate from Arizona, but my specific school requires another 2. Can I take those last credits here while still being enrolled at my school? They said it’s too late to let me graduate early from them, so I don’t know how it all works. I am hoping to have the last two by May like everyone else, but I am not sure how Primavera does their program scheduling.
Hi, Megan. Yes, you should be able to enroll in those classes using our six-week course option. Or, you can take them during Summer School so you can hopefully graduate in Summer. Congrats on your hard work!
I wanted to know if it was possible to pick which credits (That i have already completed at primavera) I would want to transfer to my high school ?
Hi, Kimberly. Our enrollment advisors can help answer your question. Give them a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
My daughter was at a high school and registered concurrently during the summer to retake a class she had failed and over the summer we moved. The new homeschool will not register them until the primavera class is complete which should be end of August is this possible? I know that she could withdraw from primavera but I don’t see it a law since it was done last month when she enrolled. What are my options as I don’t want her to miss any more school (7 classes she has not attended all this week). helpless feeling 🙁
Hi, Letycia. Sorry you are feeling helpless. We would like to help you out! By law, schools cannot deny concurrent enrollment; however, this policy could be different since you are in a homeschool. Please call us at your earliest convenience at 480.456.6678 so we could help you get through this situation.
If I retake a class in Primavera that I had already previously taken at my public highschool last year, will the final course grade I received in my high school or in Primavera show up on my final transcript? What if the grade I received at my high school is better than the one I receive online? Do I get to choose?
Hi, Jordan. Great question! 🙂 Your answer depends on the specific course you enroll in. Some courses will allow you to replace a letter grade, others it will add the grade to your transcript. Our enrollment advisors are happy to provide you with a better answer to your question. Give them a call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
Does your school only apply to schools in Arizona? I am currently living in Texas. My daughter is a Junior and interested in getting ahead by earning credits that would go towards her Senior year, as she is only registered for 3 courses during her Senior year.
Hi, Kateva. Unfortunately, Primavera is only available to Arizona students. Thanks for the question. 🙂
I’m currently attending Peoria accelerated high school which is a free charter high school can I transfer all my credits I have to primavera ?
Hi, Bryan. If the school is accredited, you should have no problem transferring credits over to Primavera. 🙂 You can get started here, or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
Im going to be a Junior next year and i had a question , Can I take my Junior year courses at a public school and take my senior courses here at primavera ?
Hi, Juan. Absolutely! You can get started with part-time enrollment at ChoosePrimavera.com/Enroll, or give our enrollment advisors a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
a full credit is 6 weeks long with 15 hrs a week?
Hi, Jordan. Yes. 🙂 A six-week course counts for a full semester credit, and requires 15 hours a week of attendance.
Do you have to take an in person final?
Hi, Paris. No, all finals are taken online. The only in-person test is AzMERIT, which is standards across all schools in Arizona. 🙂
How many credits can you get over the summer ?
Hi, Ali. You can take one course per summer block. One course counts for.5 credits, and there are usually 2-3 blocks in the summer. 🙂
I had another concern , students who are already enrolled at an online school , can enroll for another online school ? and at primavera do you offer course retakes, like can students retake a course to receive a better grade ?
Hi, Juan. Yes, you can enroll in Primavera if you are attending another online school. You are also able to retake courses. 🙂 You can get started here, or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
Thank You . Do I have to speak with my counselor about this ?
Hi, Juan. If you are planning on enrolling with Primavera part-time, you should contact your counselor. If you are planning on full-time enrollment with Primavera, just give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1 and we will help you out. 🙂
My daughter is in 10th grade and needs to make up a few classes that she has failed at her public school. I spoke with her counselor about Primavera summer school, and he told me that she will still have to take the district’s final exam when she finishes the Primavera summer school class. If it’s a core class, she will have to get at least 75% on the district final to count as a core credit. Otherwise they will count it as an elective credit. Is this information valid and legal?
Hi, Brooke. Other districts are allowed to have your daughter take a final exam with them in order to count the class as a core credit. As far as the 75% grade, though, we’d like you to give our enrollment advisors a call. They often work with students in this process and would like to help you out. 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
Are Primavera credits transferable to California high schools if a child decides to move back to California?
Hi, Randall. This could vary according to California school policies, but since Primavera is an accredited school, you shouldn’t have issues transferring credits. 🙂
what if my online high school doesn’t let me take courses or retake courses in primavera ?
Hi, Juan. By law, Arizona public schools are not allowed to deny students concurrent enrollment. Please give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1 so we can help you through this process. 🙂
I asked my counselor but told me I can’t enroll for another because they’re a full time school 🙁
Hi, Juan. By law, students are allowed to enroll part-time with Primavera. Our enrollment advisors would be happy to assist you in this process. Give them a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
hello , i had a question , can i do part time and do full time at another school but graduate here and not in my primary high school ? is it allowed ?
Hi, Juan. You would graduate from the school you are attending full-time. Thanks for the question. 🙂
hello primavera i had a question , i am currently retaking my freshmen year classes at a public school and its super stressful i was wondering how long it would take for me to get caught up ? will i be able to transfer to primavera right now even though the school year is comming to an end ?
Hi, De’jeanique. Great question! Yes, you will be able to enroll just fine this time of year. 🙂 Oftentimes, trying to catch up in a traditional school is very stressful. Since Primavera is separated into six-week blocks, it’s a little more doable to get back on track. Get started here, or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
Hello Primavera, I have a question, if I enroll full-time, lets say if I do, when I finish a course and am moving on to take the final exam, will I have to go somewhere to take it?
Hi, Juan. Great question! 🙂 Our coursework is 100% online, including final exams, so you will not need to go anywhere to take tests. The only ‘test’ you would have to take in person is the state-mandated AzMERIT exams.
Can my 7th grade daughter do summer school to get ahead for her 8th grade next year?
Also, can my 8th grader do summer school to get ahead for his freshman year?
Hi, Susan. We do not offer middle school summer courses, but your 8th grade daughter going into her freshman year is more than welcome to enroll. You can get started here. 🙂
My son needs to make up some freshman year credits. We are learning he has a learning disability that the school has not recognised and the cause of his struggles. Would he be able to get help if he took your summer school program?
Hi, Concerned mom. We certainly can work with individualized learning plans and have an excellent SPED department. You can get started here, or our enrollment advisors would be happy to answer your questions at 480.456.6678, option 1.
Hello, I’m an adult and I wanted to know is there an age limit to enroll , also I went to public school in NY . Can I transfer my credits ?
Hi, Striving_mom. If the school is accredited, credits should transfer just fine. The age limit to enroll is 21. You can get started here, thanks for the questions! 🙂
My daughter was told if she took her sophomore English at Primavera that it will not transfer to Corona Del Sol unless she passes Corona’s Final exam also. This is disheartening because although other friends of hers/students passed the English classes with no issues at Primavera they are failing the Corona Del Sol onsite test because they are being tested on dif curriculum. Why is the curriculum different between Primavera & Corona Del Sol? We spoke with Sue Parker over Records at Corona Del Sol today where this was confirmed. This is not good.
Hi Concerned Parent. We’re sorry to hear that, and thank you for bringing that to our attention. Unfortunately, they can require students to take a test in order to count as a core instead of an elective credit. Please give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. We’d like to help you out with your situation.
Can I take a semester over summer and the second one during school? there isn’t an option to take both anymore over summer break…
Hi, Carissa. Absolutely! You can stay enrolled in one class per block with Primavera while attending your current school. You can get started here, or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
Greetings Concerned Parent,
I would like to thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. As stated previously, Corona Del Sol can require students to take an exam before excepting the transfer credit as a core credit, which happens to Corona Del Sol’s policy. In regards to curriculum, each district in the state of Arizona adopts their own curriculum to provide instruction for their students. It is not the same curriculum each school district is required to have in place, but we are all required teach the academic standards that have been developed and adopted by the Arizona Department of Education. If you plan on having your daughter take her sophomore English course with us, I would like to advise that you schedule a meeting with her guidance counselor at Corona Del Sol to discuss the exam she would be expected to take upon the completion of her course with Primavera. I am confident in saying that the instruction our sophomore English teachers provide would prepare your daughters to be successful. You would just need to know what literary genres are focused on in Corona Del Sol’s exam.
How old do you have to be to attend your online class. My brother is 36 and looking to go back to school online to get his diploma
Unfortunately my son is a very slow worker. What would happen if he could not complete the course in the 4 week block during summer school?
Hi, Kirsten. Keep in mind the July 16 summer block is six weeks, which would be less accelerated. 🙂 In addition, teachers and guidance counselors can work with your son to set a schedule that could help him stay on track. Extensions are possible, based on individual circumstances and teacher approval. Our enrollment advisors can help answer your questions at 480.456.6678, option 1.
I was previously attending Desert View High in Tucson and I finished my junior year and I want to take my senior year here at Primavera and I was wondering if all my credits would transfer here to primavera?
Hi, Daritxa. Since you attended an accredited school in Arizona, you should have no problem transferring credits with us. 🙂 You can get started here or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
If a child is homeschooled, can they enroll in only one subject with Primavera? For example, math?
Thank you.
Jen
I had dropped out halfway through my junior year but want to attend my public school for my senior year. Can I take my junior classes online and take my senior classes at my public school?
Hi, Matthew. Absolutely! 🙂 You can enroll concurrently with Primavera, while still attending your high school full time. You can get started here, or give us call at 480.456.6678, option 1.
My child is in 7th grade and it is in the middle of a semester, but now she wants to switch to Primavera. Does this mean that she will receive no credit for the entire first quarter of 7th grade and have to repeat the first semester of all her classes at Primavera?
Hey I am sophomore thinking of coming here next semester. How many hours is required per week for a course.
Hi, Michael. 15 hours a week is required per course. Thanks for the question, we hope to see you soon! 🙂
I’m a junior and i have 15.5 credits. I got to a public school here in Fort Defiance, AZ (Window Rock High School). Can i still these credits here to primavera?
Hi, Sequoya. Yes, we will accept credits from all accredited Arizona high schools. 🙂
Hi, if I enroll, where will I have to go to take the AzMERIT test?
Hi, Shea. When the time comes, you’ll be notified on the locations available to take the AzMERIT test. Since our students are throughout the state, we hold testing locations at various places. You’ll be able to find a place nearby you. 🙂
Hello I am currently attending Maryvale High School and this is the last week of my senior year and I am still missing 3.5 credits. Can I transfer my credits to primavera and finish here, if so how long would it take?
Hi, Angel. Sure, you can transfer credits over. 🙂 With it being so late in the school year, you’ll most likely need to take summer school courses, which are free! You can get started here or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 4.
Hi, can part- time enrolled students take more than 1 coarse every 6 weeks?
Hi, Daylee. That would require approval from a guidance counselor here at Primavera. If you are a current part-time student, you can give the guidance department a call at 480.456.6678, option 1 🙂

Hi, Blen. It’s absolutely possible. 🙂 You can enroll part-time with Primavera, meaning you take one class here every six weeks, while still attending your current school. Credits will transfer, but we recommend reading over this article if you haven’t yet. You can get started here.
What if someone from another state wanted to attend Primavera? Would they have to move to Arizona or would you accept the student?
Hi, Christian. Primavera is only available to Arizona residents. Thanks for the question. 🙂
Hi. I’ve been on Primavera last year and i recently went back to school in January but that didn’t work out. Am i able to come back and go to school on here?
Hi, Teandra. Absolutely! 🙂 We’d be happy to help you re-enroll. Are you looking to start summer school courses or enroll in fall?

OK, great! In that case, you can apply for summer school here, or give us a call at 480.456.6678, option 1. 🙂
I would like to enroll into Primavera this summer to get ahead on credits. Algebra 2, PE, Sociology, and Financial Literacy are on my list. Would I take them through part-time enrollment or summer school? And will I have enough time to complete them all for their full credits?
Hi, Vironica. Sounds great! 🙂 We recommend taking one class in summer school, any additional courses would have to be approved through a guidance counselor. But, you are more than welcome to enroll part-time during the school year to help you get caught up on credits, or get ahead to graduate early! Get started at freesummerschool.com or we’d be happy to help at 480.456.6678.
I have a student who needs Foreign Language credits not for HS graduation, but for college admission. Do Primavera credits meet the AZ universities Board of Regents Core Competency Requirements for Freshman Admission?
Hi, Nessa. Yes. We are fully accredited and aligned to state and national standards. Our foreign language courses are recognized by universities. 🙂

Hi, I have 22.25 credits at my current school but I need 24, with the whole pandemic thing and personal problems I have been doing bad but I want to graduate this year. Would I be able to transfer to Primavera and graduate on time? Would I have to take some classes to be able to graduate here or would I already be able to graduate?
Hey primavera I am a junior with only 10 credits to my name and I need to graduate do you guys help with that ?
If i need my grade 12 english and gov/econ credits to graduate early, can I take those while finishing up my junior year and be able to graduate early?
Hi Juliah. Certainly! With guidance counselor approval, you can add on courses to potentially graduate early.
What courses can I take as a part time student? My school told me that I was only going to get credit for taking an elective course, but I would like to take a Math course through Primavera. They said that I would not be granted credit for taking a core class.
Hi, Everett. Sorry to hear that. By law, your school needs to accept your class credits. They can choose to make it an elective credit, but in that case, you have a right to take a test from them and if you pass, it needs to be accepted as a full credit. But we know that can be pretty tough to work through. If you want to talk with us, we can help you figure that out at 480.456.6678, or we have a ton of fun electives to enjoy! Criminology, Graphic Design and photography are just a few options. 🙂
Hi guys! I was looking to enroll in Primavera but part time for spanish to get my full credit. Do I enroll in one 6 week enrollment and then enroll in a second one after to get the full credit? I was looking to enroll into the beginning of the year, and then after that one ended, i would enroll into one that was a couple days after that. Would that get me where I needed to be? Would I be able to?
Hi, Pay. Good questions! One six-week course equates to a semester, or half credit. If you want 1 credit of Spanish, you should take two courses. Once you complete the course, you can send a transcript over to your current school in order to receive credit. You definitely can enroll in the beginning of the year, and take the next course after that. Hope that helps! 🙂
I’ve set up for the online summer school enrollment, but not sure how to access it
Hello! I was looking to challenge myself my senior year as my school has canceled many advanced courses. I was looking specifically into honors government to receive my government credit required for graduation. However, my school says they won’t allow concurrent enrollment throughout the year. As I’m looking to speak to them about that, how would taking only a half-semester honors course look when transferring? Would they have to give me the weighted credit by law or just a regular credit?
Hi, Candice. Thanks for reaching out with these great questions! We have a team of advisors who are here to assist you. Please call them at 480.530.0632 for more information. 🙂
Hi! I was looking to enroll part-time in order to receive a half-semester credit for honors government. How would this course transfer over to my school if they don’t have an honors government course, or allow primavera concurrent enrollment? Would the honors course still be recognized as a weighted one?
Hi, Candice. Great questions! Our enrollment team is here to help! Give them a call at 480.530.0632 and they’ll walk through all the specifics with you. 🙂
My sister is missing about 2 1/2 years worth of high school credits due to family issues would she be able to take back to back classes in oder to catch up with her junior year class and be able to graduate next week?
Hi, Martha. We help many students catch up on credits! We have credit recovery pathways to catch up and get back on track. Enroll here or give us a call at 480.530.0632 for more information.
Do you guys offer any Ap or honor classes
Hi, Stamili. Yes, we offer honors courses. Our enrollment advisors are happy to provide more information. Give them a call at 480.530.0632. 🙂
I was wondering if I only have 2 more math credits left for my entire senior year am I still able to switch to primavera and graduate?
