At Primavera Online High School, we have incredibly talented students, and those in the Art Club are no exception! In this series, we feature work submitted directly from our students to help our talented Panthers get noticed.

The Art Club is back at it again, with more featured artwork this month than ever before! With the start of 2016, a few students decided to commemorate the New Year with some aptly themed pieces of artwork and videos. Check them out below!

Matthew Vargas, Animated Video

“My name is Matthew Vargas, I’m a freshman here at Primavera, and this is my design created in a program called No Limits 2. This coaster was inspired by the magic of New Years and the love that I feel around the holiday. Each up and down reminds me of the ups and downs that you feel in year, and in life. I went through about 50 some songs before I picked the song Not Giving In by Rudimental. I felt this song closely matched the feelings of the New Year.”

 Lexie Martinez, Firework Photography

To Lexie, a freshman here at Primavera, the best part of the New Year is the fireworks. Lexie used a Canon DSLR on slow shutter speed to meticulously capture fireworks as they fired individually. As Lexie said, it was only right to commemorate 2o16 by submitting the first three photos of the year!

Audrey Meade, Fireworks Painting

Great minds think alike, right? Because Audrey is also a fan of fireworks, she decided on the same topic. But instead of photography, Audrey went the painting route.

“I made this firework inspired piece with watercolor paints and a straw. I got different colored paints and dropped them on the paper, and then blew the paint around to make a firework effect. It was fun because I didn’t have any exact expectations for what it would look like. It was freeing to just do something fun with paints without worrying about it looking.”

Nicolas Caldwell, “From Then to Now, 2016”

What better way to ring in the New Year than to reminisce on the years gone by? That’s what one Art Club member, Nick Caldwell, decided to do by focusing on television. The image is broken into decades showing the popular TV shows of each time. His art piece, “From Then to Now, 2016,” was done using colored pencils.
